Africa Comes Alive at Audubon!

Jamestown, NY – Imagine being close enough to a pair of gorillas in the wild to be able to take their picture while one of them sleeps.

Or photographing a springbuck, a beautiful small brown and white gazelle, as it quenches its thirst at a watering hole in central Africa.

These are some of the experiences Bruce Robinson, Jr., may relate at the Audubon Center and Sanctuary’s First Friday Lunch Bunch on October 1. Beginning at 11 a.m., he will share pictures and stories from his recent trips to Rwanda and Uganda.

An accomplished photographer, Robinson’s exhibit was a popular attraction at last summer’s Art in the Woods art show and sale at Audubon. As he states on his website, “I have spent the better part of my adult life traveling the world searching for adventure and making photographs. The world is full of the marvelous. Nature is my inspiration.”

A visit to the site, www.photos.naturalnomad.com, offers an amazing preview of delights that await those who come to Audubon on October 1!

Following the presentation, coffee and tea will be provided for a BYO brown bag lunch. A donation of $5 for Audubon members and $7 for non-members is appreciated.

The Audubon Center and Sanctuary is at 1600 Riverside Road, off Route 62 between Jamestown and Warren. The Center’s building, with a nature store and exhibits of live fish, reptiles, amphibians and more, is open Monday-Saturday 10 am-4:30 pm, Sundays 1-4:30 pm. Its five miles of trails, Bald Eagle viewing, arboretum, and three distinct gardens are open dawn to dusk every day.
