Jamestown, NY – “Things are coming together terrifically for what will surely be Audubon’s most exciting nature art show yet!”
That’s how Jamestown Audubon Society president Ruth Lundin described plans for Art in the Woods on Saturday and Sunday, July 17 and 18.
Lundin also expressed appreciation to Chautauqua County, Verizon Wireless, Jamestown Area Medical Associates and Phoenix Metal for sponsoring this event that supports Audubon’s environmental education programs.
Ten new artists will be among the dozens of artists and craftspeople that will be at the beautiful Audubon Center and Sanctuary for this third annual art show and sale. In addition to painters, photographers, jewelers and potters, there will be artisans who work in fiber, glass, iron, wood, pressed flowers, gourds and even books.
All entries in the Art in the Woods Photography Contest will be mounted for viewing in the third floor Sky Room of the Nature Center building. The judges’ choices will be sporting their ribbons, and festival participants will vote on the People’s Choice Award.
The tempting food delights will include pulled pork, veggie wraps, chicken wraps, dessert crepes, hot dogs, sausages, nachos and cheese, kettle corn, and more. The Strawberry Pancake Breakfast on Sunday from 10 am to noon will feature strawberries and blueberries layered between pancakes and topped with whipped cream and real maple syrup – plus sausage patties, juice and coffee.
Live entertainment will be provided by Old Dawg Bluegrass, Barbershop Quartet, the guitar-flute duo of John Bowler and Laura Whitten, fiddler Taylor Pancoast, and Drama Enrichment Program students under the direction of Michele Constantino.
Nature-related children’s activities, a bake sale, more than five miles of beautifully maintained trails, and Liberty, Audubon’s resident bald eagle, are just some of the additional attractions.
Tickets are only $5 and children 12 and under are free. Sorry: pets are not invited.
Hours for Art in the Woods are 10 am to 6 pm on Saturday July 17 and 10 am to 5 pm on Sunday July 18 at the Audubon Center and Sanctuary, 1600 Riverside Road off Route 62 between Jamestown, New York, and Warren, Pennsylvania.
