Help Preserve the Sigurd M. Rascher Collection at Reed Library
By: CQVibe

Dear Chautauqua Vibe Reader,

I am writing today to ask for your help in obtaining a Pepsi Refresh-Everything grant for a project in the Archives & Special Collections at Reed Library. The Archives at SUNY Fredonia are host to an extensive collection of materials once owned by legendary twentieth-century saxophonist, Sigurd Rascher. We are currently implementing an audio preservation, digitization and restoration project for the Archives on the historic audio collection, which includes recordings on several different vintage formats. Although work has progressed on the project with local funds, we need additional dollars in order to complete the project. Once completed, the Sigurd Rascher Saxophone Collection will draw international attention as a research collection for those interested in the history and development of the saxophone as a classical instrument. Rascher was one of the musical greats, and these rare, unique recordings should be preserved to enable future generations a detailed window of the past.

Each person can vote for an idea once per day per project for the entire month of November. We would greatly appreciate it if you could help us out by voting at the link below: http://www.refresheverything.com/rascheraudio

Just click on the link, then click the "Vote for this idea" button on the right-hand side. You will be prompted to create an account. Alternatively, you can sign in with your Facebook account, if you have one.

The last alternative is to vote via text. Standard text message rates apply. Text 103703 to Pepsi (73774)

I am creating a daily mailing list for the month of November. I will send out reminder emails each day with a link to the page for voting. Please let me know if you would like to be added to this mailing list by contacting me at rascher.archive@gmail.com

It would be great if you could share this link with your friends, family and colleagues! We need as many votes as possible to be successful in this extremely competitive program. The successful completion of this project will provide the faculty and students of SUNY Fredonia with an invaluable resource for studying the history and development of the classical saxophone.
