Jamestown, NY – Wildlife and nature artist Janet Mandel will be showcasing her work at the Audubon Center and Sanctuary’s third annual Art in the Woods art show and sale, July 17-18.
Janet’s work includes North American and African wildlife, Marsh Birds, Songbirds, a series of fanciful “Faeries,” and a series of quirky cat portraits. She lives on a 21-acre parcel of country property in Ellington, New York, that has been listed by the National Wildlife Federation as a “Certified Wildlife Habitat.” Her work has been published by the National Audubon Society, the National Geographic Society, and the Smithsonian Institution.
Janet and photographer Bill Smith are returning as co-chairs of this delightful fund-raising event on the grounds of the Audubon Center.
“This year, we are thrilled to have 10 new artists with us who will be representing a variety of artistic disciplines ranging from woodturning and felted fiber to exquisite gourd, bead and feather pieces,” she said.
“We also have many regional and nationally acclaimed artists who have been a part of the Jamestown nature art festivals for many years and will be here once again this July. Natural fiber, clay, jewelry, glass, and more are all art disciplines that originate in nature, and we are very happy to be able to offer this diversity of talented artists at Art in the Woods.”
In addition to the artists’ booths, there will be new musical and theater performances, artists’ demonstrations, children’s workshops, and a great variety of delicious food. “So come,” Janet invites. “Enjoy the experience of shopping for a unique piece of artwork, stroll the grounds of Jamestown’s beautiful Audubon Center, and be a part of our celebration of nature, while supporting the worthwhile programs the Audubon Center offers.”
The Audubon Center and Sanctuary is at 1600 Riverside Road, off Route 62 between Jamestown, New York, and Warren, Pennsylvania. Saturday’s festival hours are 10 am to 6 pm, Sunday’s are 10 am to 5 pm. For more information or for volunteer opportunities, visit www.jamestownaudubon.org or call (716) 569-2345.
